Is tree stump mulch bad for plants?

I have just had a huge leyland cypress cut down and the stump ground about a month ago. I want to plant a shrub and perennial garden in the same area but I am worried about the mulch left behind from the stump grinding. Is this bad for new plantings? Thanks. :?

The saw dust should be just fine, I could find no evidence that Cypresses are allelopathic so, no worris there. Add some manure to the spot to help break down the lignins in the wood. It will help make lovely soil for your plants.

Don't forget to add leaves and manure/coffee ground in 50:50 ratio this fall, your plants will thank you for it!

Besides the coffee grinds you might want to add some basic NPK because the previous plant probably sucked up all of the nutrients and sawdust/woodchips deplete the soil of nitrogen.
