Just what variety is 'my very favorite tree'? Can you ID? :)

I am planning to do some landscaping in my yard here in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada...and would love to plant this tree. I'm not sure what it is though, and whether or not it will be suitable for my yard. If you could help me ID it, it would be GREATLY appreciated! (The tree pictured is growing in Banff National Park, so I assume it can weather an Edmonton winter?)

So far no luck hey. Would it help that I remembered that its leaves look like maples? After browsing around on different threads/forums, could this be an Amur Maple?

It is difficult to say for definite. The colouring looks about right and your description of the maple leaf tends towards it being an Amur but without a close up of bark and leaf I could not say for sure...sorry.

Thanks for your comment. I guess I could take the pic with me when I go to the greenhouse. If we don't plant before this fall, I'll take better pictures when I'm there in September. Thanks again!
