Magnolia trees from seed

My neighbor has a big old magnolia tree and I was wanting to try and raise some from seed. I know that it’s a long process. Any info is much appreciated.

I have been wanting to look up how to raise trees from seeds, and this is the first place I'm planning to look when I get around to it:
The Woody Plant Seed Manual, published by the US Forest Service and available online at: https://www.fs.fed.us/rm/pubs_series/wo/wo_ah727.pdf
Magnolia is on page 700. Good luck!

Thank you for that link. What a resource. I got the seed cones today. 2 aren’t opened and 2 were about empty. I’m going to prepare them for storage in the next 2 days. This looks to be a long and interesting project that I hope will be a success.
