Planting Clethra Seeds

How do you extract seeds from a Clethra plant (see attached image)? I broke open one of the pods and didn't see anything that looks plantable. Do you plant the whole pod as is?

I want to say there should be tiny seeds in side the pods. But the pods open when the seeds are ripe. Yours do not seem to be opened?

I can’t be absolutely sure since I haven’t tried growing them from seeds. I was going to grow from branch cuttings if I want to increase.

It seems to me you could also plant the entire pods and then thin by clipping the weaker sprouts. I believe these seeds need to be cold stratified in moistened potting medium first.
