composting royal empress paulownia leaves

I have a yard full of royal empress paulownia leaves and was wondering if I can put them in my compost pile, I don't know much about this tree and did not want to use the leaves if they will negatively effect my compost pile.

-Thank You

I don't know of any reason that paulownia leaves shouldn't be composted. No allelopathy issues that I know of. I'd do it.

Yeah, isn’t this a N-fixer? The leaves should be very nutritious.

Just remember that a good compost pile needs diversity. A rule of thumb says no more than ten percent of your pile should be one ingredient (where leaves doesn't count as one ingredient if they are different kinds, but paulownia leaves is one ingredient). If you have too many of them, just make a separate leaf pile somewhere and gradually add them to your compost pile, mixed with other stuff. They will start breaking down while they are in the leaf pile anyway...
