Should I trim this branch stub a bit better?

Hello Folks,

Two days ago I cut a branch from a maple tree. I couldn't tell where the collar was. Maybe I should have done a better job at trimming. Did I leave too much of a stub? Should I trim it again, taking more off at the bottom of the stub? Also the face of the cut is not smooth. It is a little jagged where I had trouble making the undercut and the main cut meet up.

No it is fine. You made a slanting cut to help water run off and you left a little bit of the branch for the collar to form. Painting with pruning paint is no longer recommended.

Thanks again imafan26,

I'll leave it alone but keep an eye on it.
