Transplanting mature > 10 foot arborvitae

Tue May 23, 2017 10:52 pm

Hello,
I'm in NY, and have a friend doing some landscaping renovation. I'm going to transplant about 3-4 mature 10-14' arborvitae's from his property to mine.
First question is will it survive? Second is any tips/advice for the move?

My plan is to dig about 3' away from the trunk & chop the roots there. I also plan to fill about about 4 5-gallon buckets of his surrounding dirt to mix in the hole they will go in on my property.
Thanks!
Danny
