Any hope for this Magnolia?

We went through a severe drought this summer in MS. By the end of it I noticed some leaves at the top dying. Now even after a lot of rain it looks like the damage is done and we may loose it. What do you guys think? There are green leaves, but there's also a lot of dead leaves, especially at the top.

No, it's way to tall for that. We'll just see what happens I guess. The brown leaves are dead and aren't falling off, which isn't a good sign from what I understand.

Is there any way you can get to the "dead zone" at the top and scratch the limbs lightly to see if green shows? If the limbs show green just under the bark, they will most likely put out new leaves.
