Wisteria

Hi,

My friend offered me to dig up her Wisteria because I would really love to have one for next spring and she said it is taking over everything and wanted to get rid of it. I have a perfect spot for it next to a corner split rail fence and not too close to the house, but there is a tree about 3-4 feet from the fence where I plan to plant it.

I went online and read a lot of negative messages about wisteria, that it can spread everywhere and even crawl under the house's slab.

Is there anything I need to know before planting this vine/shrub? What can I do besides pruning, to keep it from ending up somewhere we wouldn't want it to go?

Thanks! :D

Hi Natalie,

Sometimes the offer of a plant from a friend should come with a caveat.
Is there anything I need to know before planting this vine/shrub?
You have probably already read all the bad press.
What can I do besides pruning, to keep it from ending up somewhere we wouldn't want it to go?
I don't mean to be contrite, but trash it unless you are willing to deal with the consequences.
