Help! Pine trees aren't looking so hot

I'm in Washington State and living on acres in a woody area. Few weeks ago, I noticed my pine trees affected by something, but not sure what it is.

At this point, we have a LOT of affected trees that are both young and old. The disease (or whatever it is) looks bright orange and is dusty to touch It makes the branches to swell and rapture.

What is this? What can be done to stop and prevent this from happening? I have found quite a few trees that are dead.

I'm not sure, but it may be fusiform gall rust, a fungal disease affecting pine trees. Some of the pictures I saw looked just like yours and some not so much...

your pines look like white pine which can be diseased by the blister rust canker. Here is a site which shows the areas trees effected.
