Japanese Maple Care

I have a two-foot Japanese Maple in the middle of my lawn. Any suggestions as to how to care for it?

Thanks,

Is it a tree type or shrub type? Why it is in the middle of the lawn? Is it in a bed? I would think that would be the first step -- smother the grass around it and mulch... Artfully arrange a bed around it so it looks like a part of the landscape design.

One day I found it there, fully mulched and surrounded by a no-weeds-shall-pass circle of rocks. It was after a week-long vacation to Florida. It's a tree type.

I might put a post-it up on your magically appearing J-Maple, offering a beer to the elf who put it there. ;)

Let it grow for a couple years and then you can research on how to make an airlayer.. Speaking of bonsai.

Lol! I think it was my neighbor. He's nice...and owns a greenhouse full of Japanese Maples.
