Butterfly Bush won't bloom

I purchased a butterfly bush last spring from a local garden show. I don't know if it matters but it was not potted, the roots were in a bag. This year it is about 3' x 3', looks very healthy but still no blooms. It gets filtered sun in the morning, and full sun by 10 or 11 am until about 5pm. It is in my garden where it gets good moisture and well drained soil.

Hi predfan :D

I wouldn't worry too much. If it is only 3ft then it is still quite young and may not flower until next year. Sometimes you are lucky and you get the odd flower but I wouldn't count on it. The only other thing I would say is be meaner to it. They grow like weeds here and especially like dry, barren ground.

Thank you. I had no idea butterfly bushes might need a couple years maturity to bloom.
