Hello! 3 month ago I was in California and bought sequoia seeds with planting kit.
After 2 month I have around 4 inch sprouts. In "manual" I can read that time for replanting come.
I have bought the soil for coniferous plants. But after 4 days my little sequoias are bad(
The problem is that in Russia I can't buy "draining soil" and "osmocote". So, I need help - maybe there are people who knows what I can to do in Russia? Maybe I can change soil to another?

If my sequoias will die, I want to order new seeds and SOIL from California using internet. But I think It is not normal: buy the soil from other side of the World :D :D :D But I want to plant this GRAND tree for my great-great-great-grandson

Thanks for any help! And sorry for my bad english. ))

Look at chicken scratch (Grani-Grit) is an American brand of granite chips, sold for poultry. Sold here at livestock feed stores.

Or sift your own coarse sand from a bank. Both will do for the inorganic part of soil.

The remainder should be sifted pine bark mulch.

I'm not sure redwoods are hearty below zone 5 or 6

Well, sequoia is a temperate zone tree. near as I can tell zone 5 is about as cold as I would want to try. What is your USDA zone?

Hey! don't listen to my pessimism. Were I you, I'd try it.

Seeing as I have just been through a pretty fierce winter-kill, keep your chin up for the first few winters.

If they'll (semiperviense) survive in Scotland, they might in your location too.

It really helps with site specific questions to note on your profile where you are (with a USDA zone). An awful lot of Russia is much lower zones.
