Recently planted bougainvillea cuttings: Any helpful tips?

I got two colors: orangish and a dark pinkish/ reddish.

Let me guess. No bougainvillea is without large thorns, friend. I'm Chinese, never learned Spanish, well except for preschool. Let's see if you can figure this out. 忍 冬. Sadly, none of the cuttings took. :cry:

bougain villea will grow from semi hardwood cuttings about a half inch thick. Stick in some potting mix in a one gallon pot. Keep it moist but not soggy or it will rot. They are slow to start.

Bougainvillea are one of the things that I will start in a growing pot because they have very fine roots that break easily.

The red/orange one sounds lik "Miss Manilla". One of the more common purple ones are "Barbara Karst" and the sprawling groundcover bougainvillea with magenta blooms is called "Raspberry ice".
They are fine in pots and can be shaped but they are thorny. If they get into the ground they can become very big and are nearly impossible to dig out without a backhoe.
