Plant identification help, please?

I just pulled this plant from one of my flower beds. It has a woody stem. I'd been letting it grow for most of the season to see what it would do. But, I'm wondering if you could tell me if it's something that needs to go in the rubbish pile, or if I should find a good place to plant it. Thanks in advance!

The closest thing I could think of is a sumac tree, but I am not sure. I like to just leave things like that in the ground for a while and see what it does. Sometimes it is a delightful surprise.

Ailanthus, maybe? This looks like a sumac that decided to become a tree. It is really quite a prolific weed-tree around Maryland and Virginia. Fast-growing.
