Oak Tree dying

I got a present of an oak tree which I planted in my garden. It is quite small but the new leaves that came on a while ago are now brown and I am afraid it is dying. Is there anything I can do to nourish it or help it along? I really don't want it to die as it was a present!

I'm not sure how long you've had it, how much you've watered it, is it in a wet location, too much sun, not enough sun, what zone are you in, when did you plant it etc..however if you click the link above I've found a great deal of good advice or just interesting tid bits on that site. The experts here might need more information to help you determine what has happened.
