Rose of Sharon....thousands of seedlings growin in my lawn !
Hi Everyone. I have a real problem with Rose of Sharon growing in my lawn. Its driving my husband CRAZY !!! My neighbour has 2 rose of sharon trees growing next to our fence and she doesn't prune it back in the fall...so, of course, every spring I am getting more and more seedlings growing in my lawn. Does anybody have a solution on how to get rid of them in my grass? A friend of mine told me the only way is to pick them out of the lawn! Is there any other solution?
I've never had this problem before, so I don't have first-hand experience, but I have an idea to solve this. Hear me out:
Rose of Sharon is a type of hibiscus and likes acidic soil. Your grass likes more alkaline soil (I.e., soil with a higher pH). So to kill the hibiscus, why not treat your lawn with lime? It should even make your grass healthier in the process. Nice side effect, eh?
