Can anyone Identify this tree/shrub?
Hello all, and thanks to anyone willing to give this a shot. My mother in law recently planted a small shrub/tree in my backyard where I'm starting a garden. With my permission of course. However she doesn't know the name of it. She's always heard it called a "Hawaii tree", now I have no idea if that's helpful or not. She got it from her brother and he in turn got it from another relative of friend. Anyway she's tried to track down the real name of it, but the last 4 or 5 people who's passed it on simply calls it by that name. It grows to about 8 ft. and fills out like a big shrub. It does bloom but for some reason no one can tell me what kind of bloom it has. Anyway I'm knew to gardening and have started a really big project in the backyard, and I'm a bit anal when it comes to knowing what I'm putting in. So I can research the plant and find out it's needs. She's got two more in small pots that I can have. I'm putting in a small water feature and I'm thinking about putting them around it, but of course I don't really know what this thing's gonna do or what it needs. It's a shady spot. Anyhelp would be appreciated.
