Suggestions for Zone 3 Shrub

I am fairly new to gardening and want to plant a shrub along the front section of my deck this spring. I live in Zone 3 and want a plant that will grow to no taller than 4 feet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Potentilla fruticosa should work for you. They are Zone 3 hardy and maximum height ranges from one foot to four feet depending on the cultivar. They require full sun and supplemental moisture during the first year but once established they are very drought tolerant. There are both white ( e.g. 'Abbottswood') and yellow (e.g. 'Goldfinger') flowered cultivars readily available in the trade.
