Fast growing Trees

Has anyone ordered one of the "fast growing trees" off of the internet or a catalog? I just pulled a tree out and was wanting to replace it with something that is going to grow fast. Some are claiming over 8' a year even 18' the first year. At $50 for a tree that grows that fast would be great. I found a local that is selling a 6" diameter tree for $475 but if I can get a $50 tree to grow to that size in 2 years that would be great.

Just want to say it is hard to believe a tree could grow that fast. Seems like it wouldn't have a very good root growth at that rate. If you want a fast growing tree buy a fairly tall maple tree. My neighbor's tree is really tall after only a few years.

Thuja Green Giant grows 3-5 ft/year.
Any one of the Arbovitae family will grow fast. Several maples are fast growing also.

The only thing I know of that grows that fast is bamboo and kudzu. :)

I just bought 12 Green Giants from a local nursery for $65/each. They are about 6 ft tall. Seen advertised for quite a bit more.

Sorry for the late reply but don't green giants grow round rather than straight up?
