Shade trees, silver maple ??

I moved to New Mexico 3 months ago and need shade trees. I purchased 3 silver maples and a globe willow. Now I find out they are bad for pipes., and have alot of root problems. Is this true and how bad on pipes (water lines) are they? This makes me very sad but hope someone can recommed a shade tree that grows tall without as many problems. Thank you in advance for any help.

I don't know what to recommend, but they will cause you problems with water lines. I planted a silver maple in my front yard near the street, and I had to take it out the next season because it was too close to the sewer. Also, I found out that silver maples are invasive and I should stick to native maples.
