Best time to plant a tree

What is evryones opinion on when to plant a tree. Do wait till a tree has lost its leaves in the fall? I have a Sycamore in a bucket that is 3 ft tall and leafed out. Can I transplant it before the leaves fall off? Or now while temps are warm but not over 90 degrees?

Now with heat and drought is a terrible time to plant trees. However, it's not really a good time to leave a 3' tree in a bucket either. Has it been growing there since a seedling or is it just temporarily in the bucket in transit? If it's been growing there, I would leave it until fall. If it was recently dug up from somewhere else, then I would get it in the ground now anyway and just be sure to keep it well watered.

The season to transplant a tree to feild is when its dormant. Like late october to April.

You have mentioned other trees planted to feild, not growing. Plan on watering all your transplants a lot more.
