Tree ID needed

Can someone help me Identify what kind of tree this is? It started growing in my yard about a year ago.

Looks like a stonefruit of some sort - maybe a plum or apricot?

stonefruit maybe...the venation makes me think dogwood. are there little teeth around the edge of the leaves, or is it smooth?

Potatoes, Cornus leaves are opposite - these look at least alternately arranged, if not spirally alternate, which is more typical of Prunus.

No teeth, its smooth.
As it was growing last year. The color of the leaves were pink & red like the color of the stem. The leaves just recently turned green about a month ago.

lorax - I hear you on the non-opposite leafing...but stonefruit leaves have little teeth, do they not?

OP - can we get a pic of the bark near the bottom? and/or a closer-up pic of a leaf or twig?

Potatoes - not all of them. I've got five types of plums in my yard, and only one of them is serrate (the Reina Claudia) - the others (Pembina, Sloe, Mirabel, Reina Victoria) are smooth.

However, I'm thinking that xyz's plant is closer in habit and growth to one of the cherries than it is to a plum, and cherries are widely variable in leaf shape and serration/nonserration.

I'm going with the dogwood that does have alternate leaves- Cornus alternifolia.

I did recall throwing some Cherry seeds on that spot a year ago, but I'm not sure. The leaves looks different from a Cherry.

That last picture looks a lot more like what Lorax said. Now it's looking like different things to me in different shots. lol
