Pine trees dying

Over the last 6 months I have had to cut down and burn pine trees on my farm because of a parasite/desease. Even though I cut them down and burnt them as soon as any brown needels appeared it didn't stop the spread of infection? Should I just remove all of them I can find? If so how long do I wait to replant and is there any treatment that is effective for these trees?

Thanks

Sounds like scotch pine wilt or also just called pinewood wilt. This is caused by a nematode that piggybacks on the sawyer beetle and affects mostly non-native pine trees. Mostly it goes after scotch pines but austrian pines are also becoming a target.

We lost around thirty full sized pines a few years ago. There really isn't a cost effective solution except removing and burning the wood. For more information look up pinewood wilt.
