A tall prickly hedge.

Due to the Governments altering planning law every farmer in the area I live has bunged in planning applications in an attempt to bury the village under a sea of concrete. As a result the farmland at the rear of the place that I live may be built on.

Could anyone advise me as to what sort of ever green hedging has the following characteristics.

1. To grow at least eight feet tall.
2. To have prickly leaves.
3. To be evergreen.
4. To be very thick.

I think English holly would be a good evergreen prickly hedge.
