Can I plant forsythia now?

Hi, I'm noticing some forsythia already in bloom (I'm in Northern VA) but was hoping to plant a few bushes and was wondering if this was too late, or if it is better to wait until Fall. Our nursery has some with burlapped roots, and they said now is OK but I'm not sure. Also, can you tell me how close together I should space them and how far from our fence (I wanted them to grow relatively close together along the fence line)?

Anytime is a good time but now is one of the best times. Bare root even since B & B can be expensive especially for forsythia. Just remember amend your soil after you dig your hole and backfill and tamp down the soil, after throwing in some bone meal, with the end of your shoovel before and after you water and water twice a week.
