looking for October Glory Maple seeds or cheap trees

My wife wants ones of these trees to plant to in memory for someone we lost in the past.
Can you grow them from seeds and is it hard?

I always like the idea of memorial trees!

Don't know what counts as cheap for you. We talked about the Arbor Day Foundation. They sell 18" whips of the October Glory maple to members for $17 or a little better started ones for $21:

It would still be awhile before it was a shade tree, but quicker than starting from seed. I don't know about growing the specific variety October Glory from seed, but in general maples are easy to start from seed and lots of volunteers pop up in my yard every spring...

Oct. Glory doesn't come true from seed. I would invest in a whip or small B&B tree to start as they grow quickly from small plants. Planting seeds will result in the straight species. (although you could possibly end up with a nice tree)
