Hi
I'm looking to cover a carport and some trellises with some ivy, very quickly and I'm not really concerned about the "beauty" of the leaves, just that they encase it with green, and fast.
I'm preferably looking for one that can withstand winters and grows as fast, if not, faster, than a weed. I'd even consider non ivy's (such as grape or other fruit vines) that are not indigenous that could withstand Michigan winters, if they can grow fast and cover something completely with leaves.
I probably won't plant in the fall unless this thing I'm looking for really exists, otherwise I'll start indoors and transplant to the outside in the spring.

Does it have to be evergreen? If not, Virginia creeper is a lovely fast-growing, fast spreading, hardy (cold hardy down to at least zone 3!) native vine that gets beautiful fall color and berries that birds like.
