Japanese Maple

Hi all,
Just received a 3 pack of Japanese Maple trees (about 12" tall) and I'm wondering what the BEST planting medium is. I have several options at home. I have potting soil. I have spagnum moss and I have a spagnum soil mix. Won't be able to plant them in the yard for another 8 months - next spring.

They come with instructions, but I just wanted to know what others thought was the best planting medium - for pots and these trees.

Mix up a (50#) bag of turkey (granite grit) scratch, with a bag (50#) of bark mulch fines.

All of your list kill Japan maple. Too small particle size in peat & potting soil.

A 100 pounds for 3 small Jap maples seems extreme. If you can get some sand or loam and mix in some manure 50/50 is what I use on everything and if you have anything lfet over use it whereever you can.
