Weeping Pussy Willow Tree

My tree has been planted for about a year. I made sure to add plenty of compost and organic material when planting. I also watered in increments as I was adding dirt. Over the past two weeks, the leaves have begun to die and are falling off. The tree looks sick. I cannot find any insects on it, but I noticed some of the leaves are lacy (as if something was eating them). Help! I want to save my tree, but don't know what's wrong with it!

You can water all you like but if there are air pockets any plant is doomed. Use the end of your shovel and tamp down the soil that you backfilled.
