What kind of shrub is this?

Hi Everyone,

So I just moved into a house and have a few of these shrubs growing below my windows. They are currently being trimmed with a hedge trimmer and are way too big. I don't feel that it's the right way to maintain this. What is this and how should I properly maintain it?

Thanks!

The foliage looks like Korean Lilac. It has been butchered with hedge shears. It should be be left to grow out more natural. Might get to big for the location- hence the butchering.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it. What would happen if I cut it down to the ground in the fall?

Sounds like you should transplant it elsewhere in the yard, to get nice and big and pretty. :) Good Luck. :D
