Just Planted a Red Oak in Houston

Good morning all. I planted a red oak tree yesterday, about 10ft tall, 1.5-2in diameter trunk. I read that while planting them in Spring or Fall is preferred, as long as your able to give them ample water they should be fine this time of year.

How much water to water? I know that when I water I need to water alot to really soak down to the roots. I don't want to give it root rot tho by watering too often. How often should I water? By the way, it's in the upper 90s here in Houston. Also, I mulched around the tree to keep the soil moist.

Thanks!
