Need advice on planting trees

Hi, a neighbor cut down some small trees that provided us with privacy and just a better view of green. He proposed a few of the dead trees to make way for a swing set but when I got home more were down. These were all smaller trees that maybe ranged 8 to 10 feet. Now when we sit on our deck or look out our slider instead of green we see his trucks. We are so upset. We are in NH. Where we are there are only trees with greens, no colors or flowers so we have to stick with that. We know nothing about trees as we live in the city and this is our weekend getaway in the country. Can anyone suggest any trees to plant. We want something fairly simple to plant, not seeds the actual trees. It's a somewhat shady area as still big trees. We want something around 8 to 12 feet. Something with green leaves that would help provide us privacy and the view of trees or shrubs and not SUV's. Please help.

You should have some hemlock growing in the woods. Best time to transplant is fall/winter/spring. If you can live without a screen this summer start searching evergreen woods. If not you should be able to purchase in a nursery. 5-6' to start with. Remember dig a large hole then the ball itself and add manure and bone meal when you backfill the soil. Tamp down the lose soil with the end of your shovel ebfore and after watering then water 2-3 times a week after planting. The shade will not be a problem since hemlocks grow in mature forests.
