I had 2 people tell me this is a Red Oak tree. The leaves do not look like oak. The limbs grow exactly like oak if you hold a limb next to a real oak they look the same. The wood is red in the center and white around the outside. It also smells like oak. The wood is hard and very straight grain like oak. It splits like oak. Online informations says, willow oak leaves have a tiny hair at the very tip if the leaves. My tree leaves all have a tiny hair on the tip. The tree also makes acorns in the fall, I have seen acorns many times but I have always wondered where they came front because the leaves do not look like oak so how did these acorns get on the driveway. The tree also has Compound Leaves. After looking at about 100 different types of oak leaves online Willow Oak is the best choice so far.
