Tree Pruning? Can ANY tree be pruned to form a specific shap

What I mean to say is, for example I am really liking the pink dogwood and the Sugar maple, as the tree is growing am I able to prune off the lower branches so that it would form something like a mushroom? Leaving enough room to sit comfortably underneath it? Not sure if I am explaining this correctly?

Can you prune a taller tree so as to able to sit underneath it? You sure can.

On a lighter note.

But why stop there? Run a search of topiary. You might never grow them, but lookin' is free.
