An easy ID? White flowering shrub.

Here's one more. As you can see no leaves but flowers! Large too.

Should be an easy ID for those who know as the flower is rather... unusual.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that's Magnolia stellata (Star Magnolia). I was just looking at a couple of them yesterday. They have a lovely, delicate scent. :D

The leaves appear after the flowers.

Yay- thank you on this one. Right on the money, clearly. Well now I know what to do with it- look like I'll begin treeing it up a bit and under plant it with something nice. Give it the right soil now, and make it the feature large plant for that area of the garden- but I'll need some better winter interest there.

Now that I know what this plant needs I'll find compatible ones for it.

They're quite attractive. The ones I discovered the other day are growing near the doorway of an office building downtown. I was surveying my backyard yesterday, wondering where one might do well.
