Azaleas

We're thinking of planting some azaleas along our fence but we don't know how many we need. How far apart should they be planted?

Find out how large the variety you plan to have grows. For example, if mature specimens are 4 feet wide, you'll want to plant the "babies" 4 feet apart. If mature specimens are 3 feet wide, plant the "babies" 3 feet apart.

This assumes that you want a continuous line of azaleas. If you're looking for a different appearance--maybe formally trimmed azaleas with space between them--you'll plant them with more space between each pair.

Sounds beautiful either way! :)

Instead of in a straight line you may want to stagger them, if you have the room, so they could be either 8 or 6' based upon Cynthia's recommendation especialy if you want to mix colors in odd groups of 3 or 5.
