can I still plant climbing plants?

hi all, I'm very much a novice when it comes to gardening and I'm just wondering if it's too late to plant some climbers?

we've got some trellis and really like plants like honeysuckle, jasmine and wisteria.

we thought we might buy some from the internet and start them in pots next to the trellice and maybe put them into the ground at a later date.

so, is this an ok plan? and can we do it at this time of year?

cheers

Where do you live Jack? Is fall generally dry or damp in your area? And about when does the first frost come in?

Any experts out there on climbers, vines, etc? Any advice appreciated.

Hi Jack,

It's not too late to plant in London. Lots of great info here.

Hi Jack
I'm in the UK too - 30 miles north of London.
Autumn is an ideal time to plant most things, and the climbers you mentioned are better planted now whilst the soil is still warm. This will give them time to get their roots well established over the winter, ready for new growth in the spring.
Get planting!
