wisteria

My question is that on my established Wisteria I have what can only be described as a large silky Pea Pod growing on one of the stems. "what is this please"

Many tks Mike

My first thought is that it may be some sort of insect cocoon but, not having seen it and not being an expert on wisteria, I really don't know.

I would personally, remove it and cut it open to see what's inside.

Any other ideas?

Wisteria is a member of the pea family and what you have is probably a wisteria seed pod.

You could let the seeds ripen, plant them, and see what comes up ( I don't reckon much to this one - it will take about 20 years for them to flower)

You could make a Christmas decoration from it.

Or you could just chuck it on the compost heap.
