Potted Lilac problem

I am taking care of my daughter-in-laws lilac plant that is in a very large pot. It is about 4 yrs old and she has taken very good care of the plant. She just moved to TX from SC and left me with the plant and I live in FL. It has not put out any new growth and it is late April but it seems to be alive just dormant. Any advise?

Can you tell us a little more about the conditions you have it under? Is it in full sun (if not, you need to move it to a full sun location!)? Are you watering regularly, fertilizing?

It is in full sun and I water often. I fertilized with Osmocote (flower & veg) smart release plant food 2 weeks ago. It looks like it has little buds on the stems but they are not changing. The buds have been there since March. We had a hard winter for Florida but not that bad.

They are quite cold hardy, so it shouldn't be that...
