LOMBARDY POPLAR

Hello, I planted a bunch of Lombardy Poplars because I wanted a quick-growing screen, but I didn't research them beforehand! I only intend to have them in for a few years. How long does it take for the suckers to start spreading? I planted them close to the house in the front yard, so I am worried that even in the first year they could do some damage to the water system or the yard. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Personally I'd dig them up and put them along a property line but having them close to the house is nuts. Since they are weak tress a strong wind could blow them into the house.
