We bought 2 dappled willow whips last July in Wisconsin (never hit 90 degrees last year) We planted according to instructions and watered as suggested.
Heading into winter there was no changes for these. Coming out of winter, there are dappled willows next door that are noticeably coming into bloom already. while ours just look like sticks and show no signs of life.
Wondering what to do? Are they dead or never came out of the dorment stages? Thanks in advance for you help

It all depnds on the genes some plants planted next to each other cpould come out of dormancy at different times if they didn't have the same parent. give a couple of weeks but you could scrap the bark with your thumb nail sto see if the cambium is brown or green. Green means alive brown means dead.
