Ideal Topiary shrubs

Ok so this year I am really getting excited for Spring. Thinking about landscaping gets me ready for Spring. We have a beautiful house and looking for some of that 'WOW' factor that a few homes in the area offer. Please bear with me. Ready? Here we go...First, I love those neatly trimmed topiaries (e.g. Spirals, Tiers, and Pom Poms). However, I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a few shrubs. I know that I can take ordinary evergreens and shear them to make shapes (e.g. Junipers, Spruces, etc.) So What kind of varieties are the best for topiaries? (in other words, which species of Junipers are good for this purpose?) They don't have to be junipers, just whatever makes a nice topiary. There is no shrub that can be trimmed into a pom pom is there? (Picture:) (https://www.bobslawnservice.com/images/Shrubs/LG_Pom_Pom.jpg)

I also love this style, but I do not think it grows in zone 6. (picture:) (https://www.erthturf.com/TreeformShrubPhoto.jpg)
I think it is a Yaupon but do not know.

Thanks....have a good day

The photos you have shown were grown either in CA or FL and for you to get that effect in CT would take years because of the growing season. Yews can be trained and some boxwoods if they are hardy but it's a long process. You might be better off to find a nursery that carries Monrovia stock and buy a few plants each year since they specialize in topiaries and espaliered. Oh the tree that you think is a youpon, it could be but it looks like a holly.
