any tips for platning a Blue Spruce?

I just bought a Blue spruce as you would imagine from the title. Just wondering if there are any secrets to do when planting. I do have some organic fert that is for acid loving plants which I will throw in if that is recommended. Well any tips or tricks I should need to know? It's just a wee lad and I want him to be happy so that it grows fast to block out my neighbors. :P (no offense Bill)

I'd wait to fertilize, bone meal would be better to throw in the hole when planting. Just make certain when you backfill that when half is backfilled water then tamp the soil down with the end of your shovel then fill up the hole and tamp again. It gets the air out that can dry the roots.

I did tamp the soil when planting. I don't think we have to worry about them drying out, this is wettest Oct on record for us.
