Good shade tree for Orange County

I'm looking for a good shade tree that isn't too dense for my backyard in Southern California.

I grew up in Orange County, but it's been a long time ago. Two of my favorite california trees are the jacaranda, with its fragrant purple flowers and the california pepper tree, gracefully drooping branches and colorful berries. Other iconic california trees include manzanita and madrone, live oak, quaking aspen.

Other choices would include western versions of common favorite backyard trees such as western redbud, pacific dogwood, serviceberry--tons of birds love these berries.

For xeriscaping desert willow has beautiful almost orchid like flowers, chitalpa is fast growing, open structured.

None of these should be "too dense" but you will need to do a little research. Look them up and then talk to a good tree nursery
