need help id a tree/bush please

we had this tree/bush in the garden when we moved in and decited to chop it down but it has started to grow again we decited to keep it as it looks better and bushier now. any idea what this is called?
please excuse the state of the garden in the tree pic thats how it was when we moved in it looks much better now we worked very hard out there lol

I knew this was gonna be a tough one to name
never mind
but can anyone tell me if it will grow back as tall as it was in the first
picture?

It's pretty difficult to ID a plant from pictures of just the leaves or flowers. From the looks of the new growth, it appears to me that the plant will grow back to its former height.

Perhaps you could post some pictures of the flowers and leaves, when the plant blooms? That would help a lot. :)

my mum thinks it might be a forsythia
any forsythia owners out there
what do they look like in summer when they are not
flowering?
