Cottonwood tree

I have a cottonwood tree in my back yard and every year I have a bumper crop of cotton in my yard and in my neighbors. I would rather not have this ca$h crop. Can anyone help me?

Thank you.

Since it is a softwood it wouldn't do much in a fireplace or wood stove so you might have to live with it unless you want to drape the tree in a bird net so the cash crop doesn't spill out over the lawn.

Mowing the lawn often would cut the seedlings down, preventing them from growing.

if you don't want the fluff, then you may not want the tree. they're inseparable.
