Beach willow tree !

H'I folks,
I purchased and planted a beach Willow tree about two months ago, and followed the instructions to the letter. It seemed to be doing fine until recently. Unfortunately, the last week or so, a fair few leaves have started to turn yellow !
A friend of mine suggested I was over watering it. Could this be the reason ?
I'm quite new to the gardening scene, and bought this tree, as they are suppose to be quite hardy, and would suit my garden, as it is fairly heavy soil, and hasn't got very good drainage.
I would be grateful for any help, or advice from anyone who has experienced this themselves. Many thanks.
Davex.

If you didn't amend the soil and its heavy soil then your friend is probably right. In the fall dig a trench around the ball and amend the soil. Depending on how deep the root system was initially that's how far down you go and if water runs to the hole adjust the drainage around it.

I am not familiar with that tree and cannot find a reference; searched it both as a willow beech and a beech willow AND a beach willow, and all I got was this image...

Hard to make a recommendation without a positive ID; could you post an image?
