Fedge weaving...

I am looking for suggestions of fast-growing trees to weave a fence from, in Long Beach, CA. I love the look of this style of espalier, and was wondering if anyone knew of a fruiting tree that could be "fedged"... I know it can be done with Ficus, as in this pic...

but wonder if it can be done with a combination of orange, lemon, and lime, for example?

Thanks for any input,
Dan

I don't see why not but it will be your grandchildren that will admire your handiwork.

it may have to be genetically identical to merge so nicely, like a bunch of cuttings from one plant.
