Please help ID bushes + advice on removal

Can someone please help ID these bushes and advise on how to remove them permanently? We are going to remove everything from this flower bed and cover it with rock.

The first is a "Renaissance" spiraea, the second is an arborvitae. Cut them back, dig all the way around them with a spade and then yank 'em out. The spiraea is a nice plant if well taken care of, you should consider transplanting it to a more appropriate place.
